Slack & Slackicide

Slack and Slackicide are yo-yo tricks where you work with a loose section of string (slack). The string moves through the air and you then catch it. This category also includes Slackicide (formerly Suic*de), where an open loop of string rotates around the yo-yo and you catch it again.

How to Practice Slack Tricks

Here are a few tips to make learning easier:

  • First, learn basic Slack tricks with smaller string movements.
  • Let the string move naturally and don't try to force it.
  • Focus on the movement of the slack rather than the yo-yo itself.
  • For Slackicide, first practice the movement of the open loop on its own.
  • Practice slowly – proper timing is more important than speed.

Which Yo-Yo Should You Use for Slack Tricks?

Slack and Slackicide are best learned with an unresponsive yo-yo, which provides enough time for the string to move and then be caught.

What Will You Practice?

  • Working with loose string
  • Movement timing
  • Hand coordination
  • Catch precision
