Slack Trapeze

The basic step of the Slack Trapeze is to hold the string on your thumb with your index finger, as David shows in the video. Then swing your right hand so that the loop goes over your left hand. After swinging, place your right hand next to your left hand about halfway between your wrist and elbow. This movement is there to ensure that the correct part of the string hits the yoyo, i.e. the part that leads from the yoyo.

Finishing it off, plus a tip

When the loop approaches the yoyo itself, release your thumb, but not your index finger. This will loosen the yoyo and let it slide nicely into the loop. Keep your hands together and turn the yoyo once to the right and you are in the Trapeze. It is essential to have the string properly untangled.

Which yoyo should you use for advanced tricks?

For advanced tricks, an unresponsive yoyo is the best choice. Unlike beginner yoyos it does not come back on a tug – it returns with a trick called the Bind. Thanks to that it can spin much longer and handle more difficult tricks.

Features of unresponsive yoyos

  • Long spin time (Sleeper)
  • Higher stability and performance
  • Yoyo returns with the Bind trick
  • Great for competitions
