Junior Cup competition

What does the competition look like?

It’s an event where you can in a friendly environment try what real competitions are like, gain experience and inspiration, or simply spend time with people who share the same passion.

Categories

1/ Tricklist

The Tricklist category is ideal for beginners. Competitors complete a list of tricks step by step and earn points for successful execution.

Detailed info

This category is recommended mainly for beginners. Each trick has a maximum of two attempts. If the trick is completed on the first try, the competitor earns 5 points. If not, they get a second attempt, which gives 3 points if successful. If both attempts fail, the competitor is eliminated.

You can use either a responsive yoyo (beginner yoyo, which returns with a tug) or a non-responsive yoyo (advanced yoyo, which returns using the Bind trick). You can switch yoyos at any time. In case of a tie, the Tiebreak – Long Sleeper decides the winner.

If a competitor completes all tricks, they move on to the Wheel of Fortune, where they draw a final trick (e.g. Skyrocket one-handed, Trapeze under the leg, Sleeper without vision, Matrix, DNA, or a Joker worth automatic 5 points).

2/ Freestyle

Freestyle is a one-minute category where each yoyoer performs their own trick routine. Judging is 70% technical skill and 30% performance. Successful elements add points, mistakes or loss of control subtract points.

Competitors use their own music, which must be available on YouTube or Spotify.
