Hops are yo-yo tricks where the yo-yo jumps into the air and you then catch it back on the string. The key to success is proper timing, precision, and control of the yo-yo while it is in the air.

How to Practice Hops

Here are a few tips to make learning easier:

  • At first, only throw the yo-yo a little above the string.
  • We recommend using wider yo-yos.
  • Gradually try throwing the yo-yo higher and bring your hands closer together.
  • A yo-yo glove can also help prevent your fingers from getting burned.

Which Yo-Yo Should You Use for Hops?

An unresponsive yo-yo is the best choice for Hops. It's also better to choose a wider yo-yo, as this gives you a better chance of catching it back on the string. We recommend yo-yos with a width of 50 mm or more.

What Will You Practice?

  • Precision when catching the yo-yo
  • Yo-yo control in the air
  • Hand coordination
  • Speed
