Alternative Eli-Hops

Alternative Eli Hops are a more advanced version of the classic Eli Hops. They involve catching every other Eli Hop behind your hand. When the yoyo is high above you and about to come back, turn your left index finger horizontally so that it points towards you, and catch the yoyo on the resulting Trapeze. If you want to improve the trick even more, you can also shoot the yoyo from behind your hand instead of always passing the yoyo back to the basic Trapeze position. Ann Connolly shows an easier version in the video.

Which yoyo should you use for advanced tricks?

For advanced tricks, an unresponsive yoyo is the best choice. Unlike beginner yoyos it does not come back on a tug – it returns with a trick called the Bind. Thanks to that it can spin much longer and handle more difficult tricks.

Features of unresponsive yoyos

  • Long spin time (Sleeper)
  • Higher stability and performance
  • Yoyo returns with the Bind trick
  • Great for competitions
