Yoyo Contest at school - how does it look like?

Masayové Hosted Their Own YoYo Contest. And We Were There! 🪀

Last week, we visited Masaryk Elementary School in Krupka. If you've been following the Czech yoyo scene, you may have already heard about them. YoYoing has been thriving there for several years and it's much more than just an after-school club.

They run regular weekly classes, have their own school yoyo shop, and have built a really strong community around the hobby. The local yoyoers call themselves Masayové and even have their own Instagram account: @masa_yo_ve. These are exactly the kinds of projects we love to support, so we decided to visit them and organize a contest right at their school.

Starting with an Exhibition

Bubi and Honza Čilo traveled to Krupka for the event, with Honza helping a lot behind the scenes to make everything run smoothly. Thanks! 🙌

Before the competition began, we kicked things off with a short exhibition. Alongside some classic tricks and yoyos, we also brought out a few unusual models, including the 9Dragons and the Big Deal.

10 Competitors and One Outstanding Freestyle

The main part of the program was, of course, the contest itself. A total of 10 competitors took part, and it was clear that the local community trains regularly and keeps improving.

The standout performance came from Dan Škrabánek, who delivered a very solid freestyle. Dan has already been attending Czech YoYo Cup events, and it showed—he's clearly gaining valuable experience from larger competitions as well.

Workshop to Finish the Day

After the contest, we hosted a workshop where we shared several new tricks and training tips. It was great to see how enthusiastically everyone jumped in and gave everything a try.

The entire event was a great success, and we'd especially like to thank teacher Štefan, who initiated and helped organize the whole event.

Thanks for having us—we're already looking forward to the next visit!

If you'd like us to visit your school as well, don't hesitate to contact us and we'll see what we can arrange!
