Category 1: Tricklist

The Tricklist category is ideal for beginners. Competitors complete a set list of tricks in order and earn points for each successfully performed trick.

Tricks

Detailed information

This category is recommended mainly for beginners. Each trick allows a maximum of two attempts. If the trick is landed on the first try, the competitor earns 5 points. If the first attempt fails, there is one retry worth 3 points if successful. If the second attempt also fails, the competitor is eliminated.

Both responsive yoyos (beginner yoyos that return with a tug) and non-responsive yoyos (advanced yoyos that return using the Bind trick) are allowed. Yoyos can be changed at any time during the contest. In case of a tie, the tiebreaker is a Long Sleeper.

If a competitor completes all listed tricks, the Wheel of Fortune follows, where a final trick is drawn (for example: one-handed Skyrocket, Trapeze under the leg, Sleeper with the non-throw hand, Matrix, DNA, or a Joker worth automatic 5 points).

Category 2: Freestyle

Freestyle is a one-minute category where each yoyer performs their own original routine. Scoring is split into 70% technique and 30% performance. Successfully landed elements earn positive points, while mistakes or loss of control result in negative points.

Competitors perform to their own music, which must be available on YouTube or Spotify.
