Faye Webster Invitational: yoyo, music, chess, tennis and Pokémon
On September 26–27, Los Angeles hosted the Faye Webster Invitational – an event that brings together several of the worlds that American singer-songwriter Faye Webster loves. And yoyo has a pretty big place among them. 🪀
Faye Webster is an American singer-songwriter with five albums to her name, and millions of people listen to her music on Spotify every month. At the same time, she is also a passionate yoyer. Her social media regularly features photos, tricks and other yoyo-related content. She also works closely with Czech brand empathy, with whom she created, among other things, the Bubble yoyo.
Besides yoyo, Faye is also passionate about chess, tennis and Pokémon. The annual Faye Webster Invitational brings all four of these passions together, with tournaments and other activities for fans of each discipline.
- Yoyo – a tournament and special yoyo showcase featuring invited yoyers from around the world
- Tennis – a tournament in collaboration with LVBL
- Chess – a tournament for players of different skill levels
- Pokémon TCG – a tournament featuring the Pokémon Trading Card Game

But the yoyo program doesn't stop there. Every year, Faye invites some of her favorite yoyers from around the world to perform together during her concert. This year, the lineup featured Hajime Miura, Tony Šec, Nora Gormley, Takumi Yasumoto, Aliyah Tan, Justin Dauer, Keiran Cooper and Tessa Piccillo.
As for chess, the tournament was kicked off by chess legend Hikaru Nakamura – currently ranked No. 1 on chess.com with a 3470 blitz rating.
