First, practise how to throw the Hook, just like David shows at the beginning of the video. Once you can send the string correctly, you can add your other hand, specifically just your index finger, which the string breaks over, and then the loop hits the yoyo. If you then untwist the yoyo out of the Hook with one turn, you shouldn't end up in a trapeze. That's how you know you did the Hook well.

Which yoyo should you use for advanced tricks?

For advanced tricks, an unresponsive yoyo is the best choice. Unlike beginner yoyos it does not come back on a tug – it returns with a trick called the Bind. Thanks to that it can spin much longer and handle more difficult tricks.

Features of unresponsive yoyos

  • Long spin time (Sleeper)
  • Higher stability and performance
  • Yoyo returns with the Bind trick
  • Great for competitions
