A bind is a trick that returns a non-returning/unresponsive yoyo back to your hand. There are two basic types of bind, depending on how the yoyo was thrown.

The first method is used when the yoyo is thrown in front of you in the classic Sleeper style. You stretch the yoyo into the trapeze, lightly grab the string with your left hand and go up with your right hand. When you feel the yoyo returning, release the loop from your left hand. If you threw the yoyo through Breakaway, you need to bind from the other side, because the yoyo spins in the opposite direction. You throw the yoyo out of the trapeze and hit the yoyo into the trapeze from below. And at this point, the procedure is the same as before - hold the string with your left hand, go up with your right hand and when you feel the yoyo returning, release the loop.

There is another way to do a Breakaway bind. You throw the yoyo off the trapeze, turn to the right, and now do the same procedure as for a frontstyle bind.

No matter what position you do the bind in and what throw you make, it must always consist of two basic elements. The first thing is to hold the string with your left thumb, and the second is to move your right thumb upwards.
